SUMMARY
The video shows the minimally invasive robotic assisted technique of distal pancreatectomy with splenic vessels preservation. The immunological function of the spleen is fundamental and when a distal pancreatectomy is planned for benign pancreatic disease an attempt to preserve the spleen should be always considered. Robotic surgery seems to increase the percentage of spleen preservation during distal pancreatectomy.
