Chicago 2009 Video – Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Anatomic Right Hepatectomy (the first case in China)
W.B Ji
Background/Hypothesis
The surgical robotic system is superior to traditional laparoscopy in regards to 3-dimensional images and better instrumentations. Robotic surgery for hepatic resection has not yet been extensively reported. The first robotic-assisted laparoscopic formal right hepatectomy in China was performed at our institution in July 2009. This video will show the pertinent steps to perform a robotic-assisted laparoscopic formal right hepatectomy.
Materials & Methods
A 53-year-old man with right-sided intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma was referred for surgical treatment. The robotic-assisted laparoscopic formal right hepatectomy was performed. Liver mobilization and cholecystectomy were performed in the usual fashion.

Robotic Microdissection of Hepatic Hilum for Hepatectomies

SUMMARY
The video presents the technique of one of the most important steps during a minimally invasive major hepatectomy: the control of the hepatic hylum. daVinci allows a safe and effective dissection of the hepatic hilum. The hepatic artery and portal vein transection can be performed safely using stapler
