Background/Hypothesis
Laparoscopic hepatectomy has been reported extensively in the literature. However hilar cholangiocarcinoma still remains contraindication for laparoscopic technique due to difficult radical excision and hepaticoenterostomy. At present

Chicago 2009 Video – Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Anatomic Right Hepatectomy (the first case in China)
W.B Ji
Background/Hypothesis
The surgical robotic system is superior to traditional laparoscopy in regards to 3-dimensional images and better instrumentations. Robotic surgery for hepatic resection has not yet been extensively reported. The first robotic-assisted laparoscopic formal right hepatectomy in China was performed at our institution in July 2009. This video will show the pertinent steps to perform a robotic-assisted laparoscopic formal right hepatectomy.
Materials & Methods
A 53-year-old man with right-sided intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma was referred for surgical treatment. The robotic-assisted laparoscopic formal right hepatectomy was performed. Liver mobilization and cholecystectomy were performed in the usual fashion.
