SUMMARY
The pancreas remains an organ for which routine robotic and laparoscopic resection is uncommon. A 73-year-old man was admitted for evaluation of an incidental distal pancreatic mass. We performed a robotic distal pancreatectomy. The patients who had robotic and laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy experienced decreased blood loss and a shorter hospital stay compared with matched patients undergoing open resection. Careful patient selection is important because patients who required conversion experienced higher rates of complications and pancreatic leak.
