Dr. Wang graduated from Southeast University, Medical College in 1994, and completed the residency in general surgery at the affiliated hospital. He received PhD from Fudan University, Medical College in 2005. He completed the fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery at University of Illinois at Chicago under the mentorship of prof. Giulianotti from 2012 to 2013. He works in Department of Liver Surgery, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, which is one of two largest liver cancer centers in China.

His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery for liver tumors and liver transplantation. He performs >400 laparoscopic or robotic liver resections per year. He did first robotic living donor hepatectomy (2014), robotic ALPPS (2014), robotic thoracoscopic hepatectomy (2015), robotic synchronous resection of rectal cancer with liver and lung metastases (2013) in China. He developed the technique of portal vein puncture with ICG fluorescence staining for the robotic and laparoscopic anatomic segmentectomy. He also developed the fluorescence staining method for sentinel lymph node of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. His research focuses on new techniques of minimally invasive liver surgery.
