She laureate in Medicine University of Milan and obtained the specialization in General Surgery at the University of Milan and In Thoracic Surgery at the Universlty of Modena. She was assistant Surgeon In the Department of Thoracic Surgery Instiute Mutualiste Mountsouris, Paris (Prof. D. Grunenwald) and she was Visiting Physician at Department of Surgery The New York Hospital Cornell University (Prof. D. Skinner) and Division of Laparoscopic Surgery Mount Sinal Hospital New York (Dott. B. Salky).

She has performed her clinical and scientific activity from 1994 till 2000 in different centres of Thoracic and General Surgery in Milan (S. Giuseppe Hospital, Policlinico di Milano, istituti Clinici Humanitas). She has worked as Thoracic Surgeon at the European institute of Oncology since 2000. She collaborates as Principal Investigator on different NCI-supported chemoprevention trials and leads one of the largest lung cancer screening research trials In Europe with low dose CT scan.
