Dr Evgeny Solomonov, M.D.

Chief of the Department of General and Hepato-Pancreatico- Biliary and Transplant Surgery at Ziv Medical Centre, Zefat (Safed), Israel, affiliated to Bar Ilan University.

He graduated from the Tver State Medical Academy, Tver, Russia in 1985, and completed his surgical training in Russia and Israel ( Rambam Medical Center, Haifa). He pursued his fellowship training in liver transplantation and HPB Surgery in Queen Elizabeth Hospital at Birmingham, UK. He has 28 years of experience in complex open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, and is a world renown hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeon.

His expertise includes upper GI Surgery, liver and kidney transplantation, multi-organ transplantation, pediatric transplantation and surgical oncology. He pioneered robotic liver surgery in Israel, including robotic laparoscopic associating liver partition with portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) as Director of the Hepato-Pancreato- Biliary Surgery Unit in the Department of Organ Transplantation at Rabin Medical Centre, in Petach Tiqva, Israel between 2008 and 2014, and is a highly regarded trainer in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery in Israel and internationally.

His research interests include the analysis of outcomes in laparoscopic donor nephrectomies, and the analysis of outcomes in open, laparoscopic and robotic liver resection for benign and malignant pathology, including ALPPS procedures. He is a member of the ALPPS International Study Group and contributor to the World Registry of ALPPS.
