Dr. Peng received his Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University School of Medicine in 1993. From 1989 to 2002 he worked at and became the Director of the General Surgery Department, Second Affiliated Hospital of the same university. In 2002, took up a position in the General Surgery Department of Shanghai Ruijin Hospital.  Under his leadership, he and his team have made numerous contributions to HPB surgery in China including the first split liver transplantation in China (2002) and the first multiple organ transplantation in Asia (2004). Dr. Peng studied at the Liver Transplant Center of Pittsburgh University, USA as a visiting scholar, from 1997-1998.

As one of the leading HPB experts in China, Dr. Peng is famous for advanced surgical skills, especially in complicated HPB surgeries such as live donor liver transplantation and radical Whipple procedure.  He has performed more than 2000 cases of pancreatectomy, more than 400 cases of liver transplantation, more than 100 cases of laparoscopic hepatectomies, and 37 laparoscopic pancreatectomies.  In May 2010 Dr. Peng began to perform robotic surgery and over 180 robotic HPB surgeries (including 85 robotic pancreatic surgeries) have been completed successfully since then. Outstanding achievements have led him to win many honors. Dr. Peng’s main interests are HPB surgery, liver transplantation, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He has published over 50 papers in the surgical and oncologic fields.
