Cesar A. Santiago, MD,

board certified in general and colon and rectal surgery. Dr. Santiago’s clinical interests include advanced laparoscopic surgery, surgical treatment of colon and rectal cancer, colon and rectal polyps, diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease and anorectal disorders. He is an expert in advanced laparoscopic surgery, robotic colon and rectal surgery, transanal minimally invasive surgery, Doppler-guided hemorrhoidectomy and colonoscopy.

He is a pioneer in his field, performing the first transanal laparoscopic procedure for rectal tumors and the first robotic colorectal surgeries at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Dr. Santiago is fluent in Spanish, helping serve Hispanic patients and their families. Dr. Santiago is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the International Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He serves on the board of the Tampa Bay Latin American Medical Society.

Dr. Santiago received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, and his MD from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. Following an internship and residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY, Dr. Santiago completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL
